Perhaps the most idyllic family holiday destination in the world. A South Pacific paradise that is unsurpassed in its natural beauty and relaxed environment.

Stay on a small exclusive island with all the modern comforts and let the nature around you take away the stress of a city lifestyle.

Fiji has an abundance of small private islands that make for a great family holiday and have fantastic Fly Fishing, literally on their doorstep.

Listen to the lap lap of little waves from your accomodation. At night the soothing lap lap soon has you drifting off to sleep.
Picture this, waking up to wonder if the sound of that moving water you can hear is wind created waves. Look up at the thatched roof, no there is no wind movement, there is that splooshing sound again, prop up on an elbow and look out the window, it is baitfish showering and there are bowwaves of predators in hot pursuit.

Fiji is perfect for the family holiday with a Fly Fishing element and the only commercial place I know of where you can be woken by the sounds of feeding fish. Make a few casts before breakfast or any time during the day. There are many species of fish that will eat a fly in Fiji and no lack of fish numbers.

It is always a hard decision when heading to the water, snorkelling or fishing....... ahh theres my 6 weight. On the water in seconds...... why is that pipefish sticking his snout down into the sand 4 inches from where my shrimp pattern is going to touch bottom..... how does he think I am going to catch him like that.....

Fiji is also ideally located for a family stopover on the way to or from Christmas Island. Round of a Christmas Island trip by holidaying with the family in Fiji and still keeping the saltwater buzz going. Pull your booties on, pick up the fly rod and catch a few fish before walking back to the family. No you will not be dissapointed in the fishing even after Christmas Island.

Many of the resorts in Fiji also have boat fishing excursions available and the fish eaten by the resort guests are locally caught. These boats are generally used for trolling with heavy game gear. However under special arrangement fly fishing can be accomodated and this opens up further opportunities with various tunas, marlin, sailfish, mackeral, giant trevally, mahi mahi and a host of other species becoming available.

The various areas of Fiji have different environments available which determines the fish species on offer as well the accesible fishing either from shore or by boat. Environments range from semi estuarine with shallow flats to oceanic coral with drop offs. Your choice of fishing style, desired species and the holiday experience you wish for will help determine where in Fiji you are best to visit. Perhaps one of the Mamanuca or Yasawa Islands in the West or a Southern Island or one of the Northern Islands group will offer what you are looking for.
